Why Gibbs, Why LaPorta, Why Allen
I didn’t draft for consensus. I drafted for joy. Gibbs because I love the Lions. LaPorta because TE is a wasteland and he’s a weapon. Allen because he’s pure grit, and I respect that. Not perfect by design—mine by intent.

Here’s the truth: I didn’t even know if I wanted to do fantasy football this year. Because for me, football is joy-first. It’s the Detroit Lions.
So if I’m going to do fantasy, I’m going to do it my way.
Jahmyr Gibbs at 1.01 wasn’t a reach. It was alignment. I want to watch my guys with skin in the game. If I’m going to live with the results, I want them to be my results.
Sam LaPorta wasn’t just a homer pick. It’s a structural advantage. Tight end is a desert for half the league, and LaPorta is a weapon. That’s leverage.
Josh Allen is the same logic: position dominance. Also—let’s be honest—I love Josh Allen. The man is pure grit. He plays hurt, reckless, and relentless. That’s Buffalo, but it’s also Detroit. Same DNA.
Put it together and you get a three-headed monster out of the gate. Are my wideouts thin? Sure. I can live with that. Because this isn’t about building a perfect roster. It’s about building mine.
This whole thing is an experiment. It’s not going to be perfect. It’s not supposed to be. That’s the point.
